Identifying the Best Industrial Equipment Supplier

Hello! My name is Tina. I have spent the past 6 months planning a series of blog posts which will explain the steps you can take to identify the best industrial equipment supplier. I was inspired to learn more about this interesting topic by my son, Gavin. Gavin has recently started work in the industrial supply industry. As he still lives at home, we often have long chats about his day when he returns home from work. The articles I have posted on this blog are based on the many conversations I had with Gavin. I hope you enjoy reading them.

Transformer Purchasing Guide

A transformer is a sophisticated machine that transports electric currents from a power source to a voltage system using electromagnetic induction. Transformers are made of a metallic coil which is responsible for carrying magnetic currents as well as a core that produces magnetic fields. The main role of a transformer is to convert energy to match the line voltage that is supplied by the utility.

There are different types of transformers for sale; the type that you choose will depend on your preferences and requirements. However, before you buy a transformer, there are some considerations you need to think about first. This article contains important information to help you find the right transformer for your business or project.

What amount of voltage do you need?

As aforementioned, the work of a transformer is to convert or match the electrical energy of the main power source to your requirements. Normally, different transformers transfer varying amount voltages. Before you buy a transformer, take into account the main power source voltage. Note that the main power supplier determines the transformer's input voltage, while the requirement determines the output voltage.

Consider the phase

Transformers come in two phases: there is the single-phase line and the three-phase line. The former features two lines of AC while the latter has three lines of AC. Your ideal phase should be compatible with the equipment that you connect to the transformer.  Remember, transformers only convert energy and cannot change electric phases.

Protection and safety

Changes in voltage can have a serious impact on power transfer as well as on any other item connected to it. For protection purposes, install circuit breakers and fuses to limit the current flow in case of malfunctions or voltage spikes. The transformer you choose should allow you to install protective and security features.

Consider where the transformer is located

Consider the location of the transformer first before you make any purchase arrangements. Determine the size of the unit as well. Note that different types of transformers require different locations for installation. Do you want your transformer installed inside or outside? For instance, if you want to install your transformer outdoors, you need to protect it from harsh climate conditions.

When it comes to purchasing a transformer, you have different options to choose from. However, there are many factors that you need to consider to find a unit that is compatible with your equipment
